This popular style leather belt key holder is made with durability and ease of functionality in mind. It fits belts up to 2 inches in width. To give this belt key holder extra durability, we lined the inside with matching color vegetable tanned leather, then stitched it all around. That means 2 full layers of tough vegetable tanned cowhide leather! You'll be owning this key holder for many years to come.
Each key holder comes with a stainless steel split ring to hold your keys.
This key holder is made using genuine vegetable tanned 4 1/2 ounce (approximately 1.8 mm thick) mahogany brown cowhide leather that has been embossed with a crocodile grain texture. The leather is a much thicker leather than you typically find on a department store type of key holder. While the leather is thicker, we have applied oils to the leather to make sure it is flexible and supple to the feel. We chose to use this texture because it makes each key holder completely unique and provides a very interesting texture that will make all your friends take notice.
The key holder is hand stitched, using the traditional double needle classic saddle stitch technique, using 1 mm thick waxed nylon thread. Unlike many belt key holders that use rivets to hold it together, we stitch this key holder all the way around the edges and stitched the loop holder in place as well. The key holder is kept closed by slipping the upper flap over a Sam Brown style metal post *. The edges are all burnished by hand to give them a finished look.
The leather key holder has a semi gloss waxed finish.
Length of the leather piece: 4 3/8" or 11.2 cm Length of the clip hardware: 2 3/16" or 5.5 cm Width of the leather: 1" or 2.5 cm Overall length from the tip of the leather to the tip of the clip: 6 1/4" or 16 cm
* A Sam Brown post is a reference to a style of strap closure using a rounded top metal post first used by Sam Brown, a 19th century British Army officer, as a method to hold his sword scabbard in place during battle. If these posts were good enough to hold swords in place during the heat of battle, we think they are the right hardware to hold your key holder closed in day to day use.
While every effort is made to make all of these key holders look the same, the crocodile grain on yours will not exactly resemble the grain on the key holder pictured. Because this key holder is made from genuine cowhide leather there may be small imperfections in the leather. We don't use corrected grain leather and as such, any slight imperfections in the leather are due to the natural texture in the leather.
Due to the nature of vegetable tanned leather, the leather will be a bit stiff when you first start using this key holder. However, after a break-in period of a few weeks the leather will soften from the absorption of oils from your hands as you use it.
Oh, just to make sure, the keys in the picture are to our workshop, and I am sorry but they are not included in the purchase.
This key holder is made from 100% genuine vegetable tanned cowhide leather. We guarantee it against defects in workmanship and will replace it or refund your money if you are not satisfied with the key holder or it's workmanship quality. This guarantee covers products and materials and construction under normal everyday use.
Because this key holder is made with genuine cowhide leather, we recommend that you occasionally (emphasis on "occasionally") rub the leather with a leather conditioner such as mink oil, (available at most places that sell shoe polish) or even better, recommend ordering some Bickmore leather conditioner to keep around and treat your wallet with that. This will help keep moisture in the leather and maintain your key holder's life and beauty for many years.
We understand that many people hesitate to purchase products online because they are unsure that what they order is what they will get. Unlike in-store purchases, we know you aren't able to touch and feel the quality of this wallet or smell that very special leather smell that this key holder has. We guarantee this key holder is everything we say it is. We stand behind it and the quality of our workmanship 100%. When you get your key holder, touch it, feel it, smell it and check out the workmanship. If you aren't happy, contact us to arrange a return.
